Our pastors and staff work cohesively and prayerfully, in obedience to God, to bring ministry opportunities, events, and support to the congregation of Elkview Baptist Church.

Charles Bias

Lead Pastor

As Lead Pastor, Pastor Charles sets the vision for the Church. He primarily handles the pulpit ministry, but also ensures the overall ministries of Elkview Baptist Church nourish and equip the congregation. Charles has been serving in this role since November 17. Over the last 27 years, Charles has been privileged to serve in a variety of capacities including Youth Pastorate, Missionary to Sri Lanka, Hospice Chaplain, Administrative Pastor, and Lead Pastor.

Charles and his wife, Karen have been married since 1993. God has gifted them with 3 children: Nicole, Shawn, and Caleb.

Pastor Charles holds a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Studies from Tennessee Temple University as well as a Masters of Arts in Missions from Baptist Bible Graduate School of Theology.

Cliff Curry

Associate Pastor for Teaching & Counseling

Pastor Cliff provides counseling ministry to those in the church family as well as teaches regularly from the pulpit.

Pastor Cliff has lived in the Elkview area nearly nine years. His ministry has spanned fifty plus years in churches in West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky. He has served Elkview Baptist Church since 2017. He and his wife, Ruth Ann have been married for 56+ years and have one son, Greg. Greg and his wife, Theresa, have two daughters, Katie and Kassie.

Pastor Cliff holds a BA from Lexington Baptist College (Lexington, KY), Chaplaincy Service Certification through Holzer Medical Center, and a Master Degree in Biblical Counseling from Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla, Georgia.

Romans 5:8 because “It makes clear how God’s love for lost sinners has become our personal possession and praise.”

Josh Scruggs

Associate Pastor for Student Ministries

As Associate Pastor of Student Ministries, Pastor Josh over sees all things teens. Pastor Josh also helps coordinate media and technology in the church with help from volunteers that serve diligently every week. He also enjoys serving in many other different capacities and enjoys serving alongside of church members in various projects. Pastor Josh has been at Elkview Baptist Chruch since September of 2020. 

Pastor Josh grew up as a missionary and pastor kid. He has spent his whole life around ministry and has enjoyed serving alongside his family oversees, serving in local church, working at camp, and now enjoys serving at Elkview Baptist Church alongside his wife Katie.

Terri Hanshew

Administrative Assistant

As Administrative Assistant, Terri fulfills the day-to-day affairs of the church, which require ongoing attention. Terri also performs general office work that alleviates the pastoral staff of clerical duties. She has held this position since November 2005.

Terri has called Elkview Baptist Church home for over 36 years and serves as a leader of Ladies’ Life Women’s Ministry, Sounds of Grace worship band, and assists with the church choir.
